Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel partners with GMC for video stories and socks

May 11, 2021 by Chloe Miller Leave a Comment

What do the Vermont mountains mean to you? Are they a place for solace, a place to challenge yourself, an outlet from the stress of daily life, a way to spend time with family and friends? Green Mountain Club teamed up with Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel and Mt. Mansfield Media to answer some of these questions in this GMC video.

Enjoy a visual perspective on what the Green Mountains mean to those who live and play in Vermont. Hear from Vermonters and visitors of all ages on why they love to get outside and hike Vermont, and how the Green Mountain Club makes that hiking possible. If you love to hike Vermont, follow along with the Green Mountain Club for hiking resources, workshops, recommendations, and to join the hiking community.

Along with the video, Lenny’s commissioned a set of exclusive Darn Tough wool hiking socks that celebrate the Long Trail and give back to the Green Mountain Club. Five dollars from each pair sold goes directly to the club to help our efforts preserving and protecting the Long Trail and other trails in Vermont. In the six weeks since their debut, more than 85% of the socks have sold out, and Vermonters near and far are repping their favorite long distance hiking trail on their feet.long trail exclusive socks

Mark McCarthy, co-owner of Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel, ascribes the success of the socks sales to the natural connection between Lenny’s shoppers and the mountains. “Our collaboration with Darn Tough Vermont to create a one of a kind sock with a portion of the sales going to support the Green Mountain Club and all of their great work is a natural extension of what Lenny‘s Shoe and Apparel represents and who we view as our core customer.”

“Lenny’s customers appreciate quality products and love to recreate in the great outdoors of Vermont and in particular explore all the scenic beauty that Vermont has to offer via the many hiking trails within the state. The Green Mountain Club is a tremendous organization that is mainly supported by donations and volunteers and Lenny‘s is proud to be a supporter of their continued hard work and success.”

The socks quickly sold out on GMC’s web store, but a few dozen pairs of socks remain at Lenny’s; purchase yours online or in Lenny’s stores today! And watch the GMC video above for a reminder on all the reasons we love to hike Vermont.

March 27, 2023

Vermont — and especially the Long Trail — is known for being sort of muddy. We even have an official fifth season, "mud season."
