Sunny skies, in Vermont, in April?? It’s a bit unexpected, based on historical data, but by all accounts it looks like it’s happening just in time for the Monday, April 8, total solar eclipse. GMC sat down with National Weather Service Lead Meteorologist Seth Kutikoff to get his take on the latest forecast data and what we can expect before, during, and after the eclipse.

With this weather, Vermonters can expect out-of-state visitation at the high end of the estimates, possibly more than 200,000. Expect busy roads, businesses, and events. If you have to drive, check road closures and real-time traffic cameras before you go. Fill up your gas tank and have plenty of supplies with you in case of standstill traffic. We’re extremely lucky to be getting these great viewing conditions, and everyone can have a fabulous eclipse day with a few preparations.
And remember, trails on state land are closed and visiting the backcountry strongly discouraged. Stay safe, stay in town, and have fun!
