Born and raised in North Carolina, Rob saw his first white blazes while on family outings to the Great Smoky Mountains and Green Mountain National Forest. His time spent earning a BS in Environmental Science at UNC-Asheville broadened his love of the Appalachians and inspired him to seek a career in environmental education. Since then, Rob has lived and taught in the mountains of New Hampshire, West Virginia, and California. He firmly believes that a strong and passionate volunteer base is necessary for the maintenance of recreational resources, and is extremely excited to continue and expand the Green Mountain Club’s tradition of volunteerism. Rob has completed a thru-hike of the John Muir Trail in California, the first recorded thru-run of the Cohos Trail in New Hampshire, and has summited the NH 4000-footers in winter. In October 2018, he completed an end-to-end hike of the Long Trail. Rob can usually be found training for his next ultramarathon or climbing the nearest rock.
