Lorne Currier is a new resident of Vermont and is very excited to get to know the Long Trail System. A native of South Berwick, ME, Lorne graduated in 2014 as a Geology and Environmental Studies major from Keene State College. Lorne then found his hiking groove in NH’s White Mountains, working for the Appalachian Mountain Club as a cook at Pinkham Notch and then as a Hut Naturalist and Caretaker in the AMC’s Hut System. Lorne comes to the Green Mountain Club as the VHCB AmeriCorps Outreach and Field Coordinator, responsible for coordinating group use on the LT and minimizing impacts of pedestrian recreation in the Green Mountains. Additionally, he will guide the GMC’s LNT Education and lead volunteer groups for service learning trips on the Long Trail. Currently living in Burlington, Lorne enjoys baking and eating bread, water sports on Lake Champlain, and finding his favorite spots of the Long Trail.
