Laura Biren grew up on the outskirts of Boston, MA. She majored in Exercise Science at Simmons College and finished her college career in New Zealand back in 2012. Laura discovered her love for backpacking and hiking on the welcoming New Zealand trail network and continued that passion serving on a two different conservation corps doing trail work. Since college, Laura has been involved in non-profits that focus on connecting the public to active lifestyles by fostering the positive experiences (ie. Healthy lifestyle, community connections, environmental stewardship, etc.) that stem from that connection through education and awareness.
Laura is now the Group Outreach and Field Coordinator for GMC and full time AmeriCorps member through the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board’s AmeriCorps program. She works with groups planning to use the LT, teaching them how to minimize their impact and assists with the club’s education programs. She enjoys long hikes, short hikes, long runs, short runs, long bike rides, short bike rides and cooking delicious, creative meals.
