Jean Haigh Cabin

Jean Haigh Cabin is one of two rental cabins at the Wheeler Pond Camps site in Barton, Vermont. Alongside Hadsel-Mares Cabin, these two cabins offer a home base for exploring the Northeast Kingdom and the year-round recreation opportunities of the area.

Jean Haigh Cabin

Built by GMC, the cabin was completed in November 2023 and opened to renters in December 2023. It is named in honor of Jean Haigh, former GMC club president and founding member of the Northeast Kingdom Section. The 400 square foot cabin has bunkbeds for up to eight overnight guests.  The screened-in porch faces the pond, with views of the mountains beyond. Main living area with wood stove and seasoned firewood provided. Shared outhouse with Hadsel-Mares Cabin.

Please be aware, the cabin will never get as warm as your home. When spending a night, come prepared with the gear and sleeping bags to keep you warm as if you were camping.

Please note, for reservations beginning December 2023, renters may encounter some remaining construction materials on site.

Support the Trail for Giving Tuesday

Climate change is impacting Vermont’s trails in multiple ways, as wetter summers and warmer winters become more common. This summer’s storms reinforced that our trail work needs to adapt to keep pace with these environmental changes. We need your help to fund future repairs and make trails more durable.
