Become a Monthly Donor
By making a monthly donation you can help us maintain and protect the Long Trail System year round. Often, donors find they can give more to the trail in smaller increments throughout the year. Set up your monthly donation online or to have an automatic deduction from your bank.
Donate From Your Retirement Account
Individuals older than 70 1/2 can transfer up to $100,000 per year from their traditional IRAs to charity, which can count as their required minimum distribution, but is not taxable if they follow the rules for a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). Ask your IRA administrator what steps you need to take, because the procedures can vary from firm to firm. Typically, you will need the Green Mountain Clubs Tax ID (03-0162865) and address (4711 Waterbury-Stowe Rd., Waterbury Center, VT 05677) to complete your form.
Gifts of Stocks, Bonds, and Mutual Funds
Giving gifts of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds is a great way to provide direct financial support of the Green Mountain Club. When you donate stock, you generally take a tax deduction for the full fair market value. And because you are donating stock, your contribution may instantly increase because you can avoid paying capital gains tax if you have held the stock for over a year. This could mean more trail maintained, education programs provided, and land protected. (Of course, we recommend speaking to your financial advisor with any questions.)

Become a Life Member, $1,000
Your membership will help provide financial stability today and for future generations. Life membership dues go directly into the club’s endowment fund. Interest earned from the endowment is used to fund our programs, including maintenance and protection of the Long Trail System. Join the GMC as a Life Member.
Join Our Ridgeline Society, $1,000
Give an unrestricted gift of $1,000 or more annually and you will be included in the club’s Ridgeline Society. Ridgeline members receive invitations to special hikes and work days to see the work that they make happen, invitations to virtual events and receptions, and quarterly updates after each GMC Board Meeting. Sponsor the Long Trail Patrol for a Week, $6,000
Since 1930, the club’s seasonal professional trail crew, the Long Trail Patrol, has worked to repair and build trails, bridges, and shelters. The amount of public and private funds available each season determine how many crews we can employ, and for how long. Endow a Section of Trail or a Shelter, $10,000-$25,000
These gifts are invested in our endowment fund and are a great giving opportunity for a donor looking to “leave their mark” on the trail in a more permanent way. Donate your Used Vehicle
