Vermont Trails and Greenways Council
In 2016, the Vermont Trails and Greenways Council (VTGC) sponsored an analysis of the economic and fiscal impact of four Vermont trail networks including the Long Trail System. The report shows, among other things, that approximately 200,000 people use the Long Trail each year.
Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative
In 2017, the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative (VOREC) was formed as a public-private steering committee tasked by Governor Phil Scott to engage with businesses, government, the nonprofit sector, and the public to identify specific outcomes that promote business opportunities and economic development centered around outdoor recreation, increase participation opportunities, and strengthen the quality and stewardship of our recreational resources. Green Mountain Club is excited to be a part of VOREC: Executive Director, Mike DeBonis, sits on the committee.
