Snowshoe Festival February 4, 2012*
GMC Visitor Center, Waterbury Center

The Annual Snowshoe Festival at the Green Mountain Club is a great way to get out and shake off some cabin fever. We'll have a nice variety of hikes to choose from and free snowshoe demos available. For those who want to stay on campus, we'll offer nature walks along the Short Trail, workshops such as Dog Sledding and North Branch Nature Center's Animal Tracking, plus demonstrations like the ever-popular Bird on Glove by V.I.N.S.

Later, we'll celebrate upstairs with traditional Irish music by Dave Day and his friends, refreshments, and give away great prizes from generous local businesses!

See a detailed schedule here.

Funds raised during this day of winter fun support the club's Education Programs. A huge THANK YOU to our sponsors and those who donated for making this event happen.

*Rain or shine, snow or no snow! We'll be hiking no matter the snowpack, so be prepared!

 The Green Mountain Club
Stewards of Vermont's Long Trail

The Green Mountain Club (GMC) founded, built, and maintains Vermont's Long Trail. The first long-distance hiking trail in the United States, the Long Trail spans the high peaks through Vermont from the Massachusetts state line 270+ miles to the Canadian border. In addition to maintaining and protecting this "footpath through the wilderness," membership and volunteer contributions support land conservation, education programs, and stewardship of Vermont's mountain lands just as we have since 1910. The Winooski River Footbridge
Working to Make an Improved Long Trail through the Winooski River Valley
For the last century, the Green Mountain Club has sought the best route for the Long Trail through the beautiful Winooski River Valley.  We are now very close to this dream becoming a reality! We have secured most of the land and easements necessary for the trail to cross the Winooski River in Bolton, Vermont.

Watch this informative video to learn more about the project, and how to get involved:

In order to secure the final easements and to build the footbridge, the club is looking to raise the funds needed for this landmark project.  You can help us reach this goal by making a contribution today.

Join our mailing list to receive a monthly email with current club news, upcoming event and workshop information, and general fun from the trail!
