Strategic Plan Themes: What are the priorities for the next 5-10 years
  • Protecting and managing the trail resource (TMC, Camps, Land Conservation)

    Keep trail undeveloped
    Retain historic structures
    Maintain the LT to high standards
    Secure permanent right of way for the LT
    Provide stewardship of GMC’s conserved land and structures
  • These could be environmental threats like climate change or political threats like loss of federal trails funding.
  • What should the prioritize and do for the next five years. These can be specific strategies or solutions.
  • List a big, ambitious goal, what should the club be shooting for long term?
  • Engagement and inclusion (Membership, Communications, Publications)

    a. Constituency – diverse leaders and members, partnerships, outreach to other groups
    b. Programming – education, quality services, knitting together range of interests
    c. Being a good partner – collaboration
    d. GMC – the place hikers go to advice and information about the trail
    e. Consistent messaging/branding
  • These could be environmental threats like climate change or political threats like loss of federal trails funding.
  • What should the prioritize and do for the next five years. These can be specific strategies or solutions.
  • List a big, ambitious goal, what should the club be shooting for long term?
  • Strengthen our Sections, Membership, and Volunteers (Sections Working group)

    Greater connections within the sections
    Grow and sustain membership
    Assess volunteer needs
    Greater support to increase engagement
  • These could be environmental threats like climate change or political threats like loss of federal trails funding.
  • What should the prioritize and do for the next five years. These can be specific strategies or solutions.
  • List a big, ambitious goal, what should the club be shooting for long term?
  • Funding/Operational excellence (Budget, development, endowment, staffing)

    Financial viability – fundraising effectiveness, membership engagement.
    Leadership – reflects vision and long term goals of GMC
    Run GMC as a sustainable business in all ways (staff, physical structures, work environment)
    Strong internal communication
  • These could be environmental threats like climate change or political threats like loss of federal trails funding.
