    You can join or renew online or by giving us a call at 802-241-8325.
  1. What is the difference between At-Large and section membership?
    At-Large Membership
    At-Large members support the mission of the club and general operations. They receive information about GMC events, discounts at local businesses, discounts at the GMC store, and our quarterly magazine, the Long Trail News.
    Section Membership    
    Section members support their local chapters in maintaining a designated portion of the Long Trail System. In addition to the regular benefits of membership, GMC section members receive section updates via newsletters and online listings for local hikes, trail work trips, and section events.
  1. How does membership to the GMC support the Long Trail?
    Membership to the Green Mountain Club supports the protection and maintenance of the Long Trail System.
  1. How can I update my membership information?
    To update your mailing or contact information, section affiliation, or membership level, contact [email protected] or 802-241-8325.
  1. How can I join a section outing or work day?
    Take a look at our events calendar, updated regularly by section volunteers. Members from any section are welcome at events, so call or email the contact person listed with any questions or to RSVP.

Mission

The Green Mountain Club is the founder and maintainer of the Long Trail - the oldest long distance hiking trail in America. Established in 1910 to build this trail stretching the length of Vermont, the club now also maintains the Appalachian Trail in Vermont and trails in the Northeast Kingdom in its mission to "make the Vermont mountains play a larger part in the life of the people."
