Martha Stitelman

Stitleman, MarthaMartha Stitelman joined the GMC’s Bennington Section shortly after moving to Vermont in 1993 to practice family medicine in Shaftsbury. To have more time outdoors, she has semi-retired, and serves the section as board representative, archivist, and co-adopter of the West Ridge Trail.  She strolled on the Long Trail in slow section hikes over 10 years, finishing in 2008, while getting to visit many of the side trails as well. She enjoys using her map obsession as a member of the Publications and Archives Committees.

Martha’s move was partly inspired by her late cousin and GMC member, Jim Guida, and she credits the GMC with deepening her family roots in Vermont and helping to make it her home. The lands in which the GMC has stewardship are a treasure: she looks forward to sharing the mountains with her grandchildren.
