John grew up hiking with GMC’s Burlington Section, worked as a caretaker at Taylor Lodge in 1971, and joined the GMC board in 1999. He is a two-time Long Trail end-to-ender who also enjoys wilderness canoe camping, skiing, and anything else that gets him into the woods or on top of a mountain. During his years on the GMC board of directors he has served on the Executive, Land Protection, Stewardship, Strategic Planning, and other committees, and in 2011 he led the club’s response to the proposed development of a wind generating facility near the Long Trail in Lowell. John is an attorney with the law firm of Zalinger, Cameron & Lambek in Montpelier, where he lives with his wife, Rebecca. He is a third generation member of the Green Mountain Club.
